WAND empowers women.
To take political action.
To change our culture and our national priorities:
Toward peace and real security.
Away from militarism and violence.
This year, more than ever before, we need our candidates and our new president to address the question of why our country is invested in the business of war. And we need to find new ways to deal with our problems in the world: to resolve conflict, to deal with differences.
We believe that women need to be at the tables of power where these decisions are made. Women have different life experiences and different voices. We need to add those voices to the debates on peace and security.
Women need to have a say about our federal budget. The Pentagon gets over half of our discretionary dollars - and that doesn't count the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We've already spent half a trillion dollars on this war. If we elect people with different priorities, we can find the money we need for falling bridges, hurricane damage, health care, education, and a peaceful world.
WAND believes that women would spend our money differently. We would invest in different ways to solve problems.
Women. Power. Peace.
Our best bet for a better world.
